Aston Villa considering Cameron Archer loan if they sign another striker
Aston Villa are considering loaning striker Cameron Archer if they sign another senior striker this month.
The 20-year-old has played just eight minutes of Villa’s Premier League campaign and may not even get the chance to play in the Carabao Cup tie at Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday.
Asked if Archer would be considered for a departure this week, manager Steven Gerrard said: “There’s a chance he’s involved but also a chance he’s not involved at all.
“I speak very closely with him at the moment on certain situations.
“We will do what is necessary for Cameron in the short term.
“The window is always open and he is really part of what we are trying to build here.
“He’s a massive talent, we love the kid, but we’ll do the right thing with him.”
Almost every club in the Championship has shown an interest in loaning Archer out after his successful spell at Preston North End last season where he scored seven goals in 20 games.
Watford were top contenders over the summer before signing Keinan Davis on loan on a permanent deal, with Villa making it clear Archer would stay for the start of the season.
They are now back for the England U21 striker who signed a new five-year contract at Villa last month. Villa are expected to make a final decision in the coming days.
