Kunal Kamra’s ‘response’ to VHP after comedian Gurugram’s show was canceled | Latest India News
Comedian Kunal Kamra, whose scheduled September 17 show on Gurugram was canceled after the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) demanded its cancellation, criticized the right-wing Hindu organization in an open letter on Sunday, putting it to the challenge to write “Godse murdabad” (down with Godse).
On Friday, the VHP had submitted a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram to cancel a Kamra show. The Bajrang Dal also complained to management about the stand-up comedian, accusing him of making jokes about a particular religion.
The show’s organizer said management made the decision to cancel the show so as not to hurt anyone’s religious feelings.
In the Hindi letter, Kunal addressed the VHP as only “Hindu Parisad” because according to him, Hindus all over the world do not allow him to become their “thekedar” (entrepreneur). He also questioned why the VHP threatened the show’s host when he wouldn’t go after their “morons”.
“I can proudly say Jai Shri Sita-Ram and Radha-Krishan. If you are really Indian, have the courage to write Godse murdabad. Otherwise, we will consider you anti-Hindu and anti-Indian,” Kamra wrote in the letter.
Kamra also asked the VHP to show him any video clips in which he can be seen insulting Hindu culture, adding that he is only making fun of the government.

In the letter delivered to the Deputy Commissioner, the VHP had said: “A show is being held at Studio Xo Bar on September 17, 2022 by Kunal Kamra. This person makes fun of Hindu gods and goddesses in his comedy shows. There are already cases registered against this person for the same. Therefore, this program may cause tension in Gurugram. We request that you cancel this show with immediate effect, otherwise VHP workers and Bajrang Dal activists will protest against this. Therefore, we ask that you cancel this program immediately and share information of appropriate action with us.”
Kamra was scheduled to perform at Studio Xo Bar in Sector 29 of Gurugram.
