Moyes admits ‘some’ West Ham stars ‘could come out’ as Aston Villa target defender
David Moyes has admitted West Ham’s summer spending may be over, but he said some players could leave before this week’s transfer deadline.
The Hammers sealed their eighth summer signing earlier this week as former Arsenal and Newcastle United target Lucas Paqueta joined them for a record £52million.
Gianluca Scamacca, Nayef Aguerd, Emerson Palmieri, Maxwel Cornet, Thilo Kehrer, Alphonse Areola and Flynn Downes also moved to the London Stadium during this summer’s transfer window.

But Moyes could find himself in need of another centre-back before Thursday’s deadline amid rumors circulating that Craig Dawson wants to return to the Midlands.
The 32-year-old will likely find himself back in the pecking order at West Ham when he returns to full fitness. Aguerd and Kehrer should be favored by Moyes this season.
On whether he would let Dawson go, Moyes said, “Ideally we wouldn’t, but it’s probably a much more complicated situation.”
He added: ‘I wouldn’t say completely no (to more business) but it might not be yes either. It may not be people coming in, it may be people going out.
Paqueta, 25, is the club’s flagship signing this summer having impressed when West Ham faced Lyon in the Europa League last season.
“I’m really happy,” added Moyes. “We’ve been watching him for a long time and he really caught our eye when he played against us for Lyon and he was the player that stood out.
“We looked a lot further and didn’t think he would be available, so a big thank you to the board for making this possible.
“He can play in two or three positions and it all made sense if we could get him – and it’s never easy to get big players.”
West Ham host Tottenham in a London derby on Wednesday night, but Paqueta seems unlikely to understand.
“He hasn’t trained with us yet, we only did the paperwork last night and we’re awaiting his arrival as he had to get his visa etc today,” Moyes said.
“But look, he signed and that’s the most important thing. He will be a great player for us.
