Steven Gerrard concerned about Aston Villa future after latest Premier League defeat
Steven Gerrard admitted he was worried about his job after Aston Villa slipped to their fourth defeat of the season against Arsenal.
Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring for Arsenal on the half-hour mark before Douglas Luiz gave the away side hope 26 minutes from time. However, Gabriel Martinelli’s goal soon after earned the Gunners a victory their dominance deserved.
“Of course it is,” Gerrard told BT Sport when asked if he was worried about his future.
“I’m really honest and critical of myself. If I stood here and said I wasn’t worried, I think you’d look at me like I’m from another planet.
“I will push forward and take responsibility as best I can. We have shown character and commitment and we have hung on at times, but if we continue to get important moments in key areas we will continue to concede. goals.
“We talk about it almost every day and it’s really frustrating that the messages don’t seem to get through.”

The defeat at the Emirates was Villa’s fourth defeat in just five Premier League games to start the season. Gerrard has been heavily supported this summer, and if the results don’t improve, questions will continue to be asked about his future.
Things don’t get any easier for Gerrard on Saturday, when Villa host Manchester City in the late kick-off.
